Adam with his first big tuna of the season. He was fishing with Capt. Petrucco out of Tavernier Creek Marina in Islamorada, Florida Keys. The Islamorada hump is swarming with Black fin Tunas. The amberjacks and Huge Sharks also abound. This is the time of year to catch the huge Sharks that are migrating through the Florida Keys. Some of the larger tigers are over 14′ long and 1000 pounds!

Hello to all my Canadian friends!
Huge 47lb gag grouper caught and released with Capt Petrucco by Dennis from Quebec.
Check this out. Fantastic catch.
The gag grouper is a bottomfeeder and is often caught by fishermen seeking bottom-dwelling species, such as snappers.
Its flaky white meat is considered quite delicious. Resource http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gag_grouper
FEMALE AMBERJACK RELEASED
Uva from Germany with an impressive 101 lb Amberjack.
It was his biggest fish ever! It took him fifty minutes on a 50/02 avet w key largo rod.
The large female was released to continue spawning.
Amberjack refers to three species of Atlantic fish of the Carangidae family (genus Seriola), which includes the jacks and the pompanos.
The Machine Steve Spatenga has been down this week fishing for “big boys”. Today we caught a 340 pound scalloped hammerhead on the first drop in the morning. After that we hooked and landed three more big lemon and bull sharks. It could not get any better right? Wrong! Next we caught an 80 pound amberjack which fought like a champ. Steve Sr took a brief respite while Stevie Jr (all 275 pounds of him), latched into a nice 70 pound amberjack for himself. He quickly subdued and released the AJ unharmed. Steve remarked that this was one for the record books when suddenly a huge Blue Marlin followed a tuna to the back of the boat. I quickly rigged the tuna onto an Avet 50 and pitched the live Blackfin in front of his face. He pounced all over it and we were Hooked up! We brought him boat side after 2 hours of fighting. What a monster he turned out to be. He was 12 feet long and 450-500 pounds! We released him to fight another day unharmed. It really does not get any better!
