The wahoo are now here in full force. We have been catching nice fish in the 35-45 pound range. Most of them are being landed by high-speed trolling with my special lures. Several have also been caught on live baits while drifting for sailfish and king mackerel. The grouper season is closed so we are concentrating our efforts on the top of the water column and trying to avoid hooking and hurting a grouper until May. There are still a few large mahi mahi around especially on the other side of the gulf stream. The Bahamas wahoo bite remains legendary. The large sharks have also been present on the humps. We hooked a 20’ Hammerhead only to loose him after 2.5 hours of fighting. This fish was probably around 1400 pounds!! Biggest fish I have ever seen. The largest we landed was a 700 lb Lemon shark on the hump.
